fun with auntie teesey

Koen and I hung out with my sister Kayla this weekend. She picked us up Friday evening after a quick chow down on left over pizza and visit with Deeder and Carly so that they wouldn’t feel too excluded. Apologies to Kayla for not making a real meal for her!!!

We packed our garbage bag of jammies and second day clothes and headed out to her place to spend the night. She took us to a video place in B’ham and we picked out a couple movies for the sleep over.
I found that I no longer am able to stay up until 1am for a movie…a second apology there…I’m really a married woman with children to not pull that one off.

I am however, when given the chance, able to sleep in until noon and that I did. How is it that my little son slept in until 11:30?! He hasn’t done that since he left the womb.
T took us out to brunch at Mountbakery (that was it, right?) and that was super yummy.
The plan was to shop down town as long as Deeder would hold out, that went *really* well. After strolling around for a bit and spending money we made a stop at Target.

That day I found some cute earings,a few nice tops that fit my overweight self (hehe), a scarf and the most awesomest boots that I could ever wish for. :)

We stopped back at T’s to feed her kitties then she drove Koen and I home to our place in Nooksack.

All in all a great outing. Something that I haven’t been able to do in over four years. Thanks, Kayla for the hospitality and Darren for watching my Diederick and Carly.

Our Little Cocoa Bean

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Koen William is 3 months old. And just so cute. :)

I’m actually still coming to grips with the fact that I have three kids. It’s not that I forget about Koen, I just can’t believe that he’s really here and that he’s mine. He smiles bright and beautifully, just as happy to be with us as we are to have him here.

Sadly the main difference between him and my other two is his constant cough. He sleeps and coughs.
My baby is growing at a good pace and seems healthy in his eating habits and everything. The cough came home from the hospital with him, it’s just still here…no worse, no better.

Koen’s a sweet heart. That smile of his is gloriously cute. He isn’t a baby that people look at and say, “Now there’s no mistaking him for a girl!” He’s just beautiful, deep blue eyes and the little wisps of dark hair.

Carly calls her little brother “Coco” and Deeder calls him “Koen Willam”
I like Cocoa Bean best and hope it’ll stick!

This one certainly is a favorite for me.
Deeder with his classic “I know this is dangerous but it’s just so fun!” expression and Koen oblivious to what’s coming his way…a total face plant (don’t worry, he wasn’t too badly damaged).

As I look at this picture I imagine how the boys might have their own individual appearance as they get older. Right now they look pretty close, but to me Deeder seems fairer in complection whereas Koen has darker blue in his eyes and the hair he was born with was quite darker than the little tuft that my Deeder came with.

So our little Cocoa Bean is three months old, happy days. :)
He only wakes up twice at night now instead of being up constantly, that’s something that I’m very thankful for. Deeder tells me that he’s ready for, “a girl baby koen to be in your tummy now, momma.”

Maybe he’s had enough with this Boy Baby Koen? Or perhaps it’s just the more the merrier? I can go along with that! :)

New Years Resolutions

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

I’m with the millions who list “loose weight” but it’s not on the top tippity top.

My resolutions kind of evolve as the year goes on as my challenges change. Pretty much over all of it I need to be content, happy, appreciative and patient.

Prayer and faith need to continue to be bigger in my daily walk through whatever it is I’m doing.
GOD is in control and I’m nothing more than a servant here, not any sort of boss at all.

I want my kids to learn the same things and I so make it up as I go along.

(This isn’t sounding as good as I thought it would!!)

How about I skip to what I hope are short term goals or at least more specific goals:

Get Carly potty trained.

She’s working hard at it, and I’m really trying to be patient. I’m still overwhelmed with relief on Deeder being *finally* done with diapers and just so hoping that Carly wont take as long to train as her older brother did.

For Koen I wish to continue helping him be healthy wealthy and wise.

Early to bed, early to rise equals health and weath…in the case of a baby, lots of “booby juice” <--(Deeder word for breast milk) Koen is happy, just now starting to smile for us and make those precious ah goo and uh boo sounds. Although quite prone to upper respiratory wheeziness and cough he’s healthy. And the sleeping is no problem…he does that all the time, gradually spending more of the day light hours awake.

And for Diederick:

A long term and always present challenge:
Keep him challenged and involved in an attempt to keep him out of mischief. I see already that he’s totally the role model for Carly (and no doubt, for Koen as he’s older) so keeping him in line is hugely important.

What else?
I’ve just bought more cloth diapers. I am vowing to never again by disposable. OK, I know better than to vow a thing like that. But really, I’d be quite proud of myself if I could pull that one off.
Also, I think that those of you who learned to cut hair before having kids were very wise to do so! My poor Deeder suffers regularly from my neglecting to aquire hair snipping skills.

For Daddy:

He’s on my list, but that’s none of your business. :)

Koen William: 1 Month

The time I spend alone with Koen is primarily during the late night hours and into the wee hours of the morning. When it’s dark outside Koen exercises his lungs…or something, at this point I really don’t know what inspires the intensity of his regular crying fits.

During the day I’m kept so busy that I can’t even think about how tired I ought to be.
Koen is sweet, starting to smile for us and growing nicely.

He’s back up to birth weight (7lbs 1oz) and more, coming in at about 8 1/2 lbs.

The children enjoy Koen immensely. Diederick is pretty responsible watching Koen as long as Carly isn’t around to try to grab the baby.

Old Tricks, New Babies

November09 055

This picture brought back memories, all too fresh memories. I had to smile seeing Carly do just what her older brother had done only months ago. I remember promising Diederick that Carly would grow up quickly and soon be up and playing with him. Little did he know then how short that time really would be!

And here we have Koen, small and sleepy, fresh from birth sleeping in the same chair Carly slept in. Now it is Koen who is being waited on by a young child who is eager to play, confused as to why the baby wont get up now.

People say that children grow up quickly. It’s true, they do. And I wonder how many more times I’ll be able to take pictures like these in my house, take joy in them and get to see all those precious bonding moments.
