Strolling behind a stroller

Saturday, October 21st, 2006

What do you do when you meet someone on the street who is pushing a stroller?

When Diederick was really little someone asked me if there was anything in the stroller that I was pushing! A very embarrassing question. :P Now that he’s put on some chub, and gotten longer things are different.

As I’m walking him down the street people just look into the stroller and smile. Sometimes they’ll glance up at me and enquire after his age or say something about his appearance, perhaps ask how old he is.

I can’t say that I’m not guilty of the same response when encountering someone behind a stroller! Before I never really thought about it. The first couple of times I hardly realized that I wasn’t getting the “hello” by fellow pedestrians. Then the invisible mom thing got kind of weird. The bigger he gets the smaller I seem to be!

But why do it? In this case, am I so frumpy that passers by don’t want to embarrass me by staring? Hehe…quite possible.

I’m enjoying helping Lynn out with the bed and breakfast. It’s fun to have something to do in the mornings :)

Deeder and I get up about seven for feeding…if I’m lucky he falls to sleep right away so that I can take a quick shower. If he doesn’t fall asleep I take him over to the B&B with me.

My job is to vacuum, dust the rooms and make the beds. Lynn cleans the bathrooms and does the laundry. It takes about three hours every day, depending on how many rooms are being used. There are three rooms in the house and a separate suite around the back.

Deeder seems to be in the beginning stage of teething. The poor guy. I hope he’ll be able to have a good time on our trip and not be too miserable. :(

Darren’s been working a lot lately, a couple nights double sift and quite a bit of overtime. They are going to try giving their staff twelve hour shifts instead of the eight hour shifts beginning pretty soon. That’d be nice for Diederick and I. :) We’d get to see Darren more…he’d work from 7pm to 7am with four days off a week.

Well there’s my brief update. Hope all is well with you wonderful people who check my blog. :D

that’s my boy!

Diederick’s learning to say Hi. :)

He’s been practicing for a week or so, and is just now to where it sounds really clear. No I’m not some crazy person who’s hearing things!!

I don’t think Diederick knows what “Hi” means; he just knows that it gets him attention. :) He’ll look right at you and say it then do this huge smile. Other than that he’s sticking with the typical “Ah goo” and “Ah boo” common to kiddos his age, also very cute. We completely love his smile and his little giggles!
