“It’s as if he’s been reading the chart”

Diederick is in the 50% percentile for his height and the 75% for weight. He has been both consistently since birth.

As of today he weighs 17lbs 12oz and is 27 1/4 inches long.

I’ve never been surprised by anything the pediatrition had to say at our wellness baby checks. It’s just been common sense and just-so-you-know updates on what research says…that kind of stuff. But today I was a bit surprised.

In the past when she’s asked how his eating habits are I’ve told her about his nursing patterns to which she has responded with “well that sounds great!” This time she said “So you’re still nursing?”
Ok, she said that after looking in his mouth and seeing his six teeth. It’s true…I ought to really be focusing on weaning him He’s got four on top and two on the bottom.

So how do I go about it? Diederick has had solids, I try to get a bit down him at least once a day. Isn’t that good?? Yes, it’s a start, she did say that. I guess he’s a bit ahead in the teeth growing department and thus his tummy must be ready for the upgrade. The pediatrition gave me a list of foods that should be introduced, another to be added every three days. I am also supposed to be giving him a sippy cup with juice or water in it.

This change sure isn’t going to happen over night! At this point it takes him two sittings to get through one little tub of food. Thus far he eats pears, bananas, and peas. This list says that he should soon be able to eat: broccoli, carrots, green beans, peas, potatoes, squash, sweet potato, apples, bananas, blueberries, peaches, pears, and plums. Three down, ten to go.

I’m not sure what to title this post…um, “cute boy” maybe?
