Bloggy Goodness, and Baby Teeth

Deeder and I in WA, May 2007

Like most blog people I just can’t help but check my visitor stats, once in a while. That all started last May when my sibs introduced me to SiteMeter, one of those wonderful free service that counts everything. :)

Since that day there’ve been 12,290 visits on My Site, 40 today. Um, some of those 40 could be me checking in to see if I’d gotten any new comments?? haha.
If you’re someone who stops in here and comments and are also interested in numbers, there’s something new to look at. It’s called Comment Info Tip. Move your mouse pointer over the name of someone who has commented and see how many times they’ve done so, with the titles of the last three posts that they have responded to (it takes a second to load). Thanks, Marylin for sharing this idea.

So I’m officially done pestering lerkers to coment–I guess the reality is I can’t force anyone to do anything! You’re free to read as long as I’m free to write. Soooo…I’ll just have fun counting those who do comment. And of course thank all of you for coming and reading, whatever it is you leave behind or take away.

Oh hey, a picture of my children that I look tonight:

Poor Carly is having early teething–I kid you not! Feel in her mouth yourself if you dont’ believe me! She has one in the front that’s cutting through, really.

I clicked “Early Teething” in Google and found a page on something called Natal Teeth, and then a link to another type of early teeth called Neonatal Teeth. Natal Teeth are the kind that kids are born with, very rare. And Neonatal Teeth come in the first 30 days after birth, also rare. Commonly baby’s first teeth don’t appear until 6 to 9 months of age–I thought Deeder was crazy getting his first at 3 months.

Deeder does a wonderful job of comforting Carly. Darren told me that when Carly was in her swing Deeder wanted to go in to the room and once in rocked the swing and gently stroked Carly’s hair the while saying “nice, nice…niiiiiiiice.”
Those of you who told me that he’d adjust were so right!
It makes me so happy to see him being so kind and caring with her. She responds by pausing for a moment, looking up at him, focusing on his face and then breathing deep for a minute or so, then she generally goes back to wailing. She loves to be held, rocked and cuddled and sometimes we let Deeder do it if he sits on the couch. Supervision is important when Big Brother is just shy of two years old! He’s good intentioned, but not quite strong enough to handle her by himself.

Today was hot and everything stuck together, meshed and muddled. We drank lots of cold whatever we could find and ate just about all the cold things out of the refrigerator. The kids were both bathed and in bed at 9PM. And I’m going to take a shower. Goodnight.

    Hi, Sweetie,
Here I finally am, checking out your post for today. Sounds like you’re all doing well, despite the heat and the stickiness. I’m so glad Diederick is learning to be more gentle with Carly. :)
